Frequently Asked Questions.
Types of Classes Offered?
All of our group classes are online, just like most auditions, screen tests, and chemistry reads. Our adult class levels are based on the 12-step Chubbuck Technique. Regardless of your experience, if you do not currently understand and apply our technique, you should start in a beginner class to learn the foundation of the technique.
Beginner Class: For adult beginners looking to learn the foundational tools and techniques to launch a professional career in acting. Also for experienced actors to learn the foundation of our technique.
Intermediate-Advanced Class: For adult actors with previous acting experience and a good understanding of the Chubbuck Technique, looking to fine-tune their skills for movies, television, commercials, theater, podcasts, and/or social influence.
Master Class: For adult advanced/professional actors with extensive credits, training, and a solid understanding of the Chubbuck Technique.
Teen Class: For teenagers 13 to 17 looking to learn the foundational tools to launch a professional career in acting. Teens are taught elements of the 12-step technique and will be transitioned to an adult class at age 18.
HOW LONG AT EACH CLASS LEVEL?
Each individual learns differently and masters their instrument at a different pace. Your time at each class level will be determined between you and your teacher (typically about one full year at each level—though master class students tend to remain in class for many years by choice). Teens are transitioned into adult classes at age 18.
CLASS SIZE & STRUCTURE
Adult classes max out at 30 students, though most classes average 10 - 20 students. The teen class maximum is 20 students, though it averages about 10 students. Our online classes are structured similarly to our in-studio classes with teacher/student interaction, class exercises, scene assignments with scene partners, etc. not lecture only!
TEXTBOOK & REQUIREMENTS
We use the textbook “The Power of the Actor” by Ivana Chubbuck. A laptop or smartphone, good lighting and sound, reliable internet, and the ability to log into Zoom are required. Individual teachers may have other requirements.
TUITION
TSAW is an established acting school with ongoing classes, twelve months a year. Tuition of $295 is due monthly and pays for four consecutive weekly classes. For example: Each payment of $295 pays for four (4) consecutive Tuesday classes OR four (4) consecutive Saturday morning classes, etc. As with any school, prices are subject to change.
AUDITING
In an effort to maintain safety in our online classrooms, auditing is limited to registered TSAW students only and is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Our online classes are not open for auditing to the general public, except on special occasions.

Our requirement for youth private coaching is the ability to read and understand sides/scripts, without assistance from a parent, guardian, teacher, or coach. Current rates are posted on the website under “Private Coaching.”
